HAMILTON, FEB 8, 2017—Clearcable is proud to congratulate The City of Hamilton and the City of Winnipeg on being named to the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) Top7 Communities of 2018.

The designation, selected from more than three hundred worldwide submissions, rewards the best models of economic, social and cultural development in the digital age. The ICF notes, “The Top7 represent models of economic and social transformation in the 21st Century… …each exemplifies best practices in broadband deployment and use, workforce development, innovation, digital inclusion and advocacy that offer lessons to regions, cities, towns and villages around the world.”

From the global Top7, one Intelligent Community of the Year will be named on June 7th during an Awards Dinner at the ICF Global Summit in London, England. Clearcable participates as a private-sector member of ICF Canada.

“The Top7 are remarkably forward-looking communities who are coming through a great transformation,” said Rob McCann, President of Clearcable, “Clearcable is delighted and inspired by the opportunity to collaborate with their local governments, institutions, and service providers as they take the lead in digital disruption.”

Clearcable works locally in the Hamilton community, including the Digital Hamilton Task Force of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce. “Clearcable contributed the time and effort to lead our successful Digital Infrastructure Working Group,” says Keanin Loomis, President of the Hamilton Chamber, “their expertise in broadband deployment guided a locally relevant collaboration that produced a comprehensive set of recommendations for supporting broadband investment.”

“An Intelligent Community is as much about actually building community as it is about technology,” says McCann, “by fostering local and municipal engagement, Intelligent Communities can build enduring mutual success and sustainability.”

McCann founded Clearcable in 2004 in Hamilton on the principles of integrity, reliability and innovation.  The company is a specialized telecommunication technical consulting firm focused on the needs of broadband service providers and municipalities. Clearcable has invested heavily in helping clients adopt new technology quickly through research and development, building technical acumen, and employing a robust in-house team.
